SAM4s SPS-2000 POS System

SAM4s SPS-2000 Cash Register

Many people think the SAM4s SPS-2000 is a cash register and they often call me and ask what software they can load on it or rather what software DO THEY HAVE TO LOAD. The answer is NONE! The SPS-2000 is self contained and is not a computer. It is a ROM based cash register with a large touch screen and modular componets like cash drawer, printer, etc.

ROM based systems tend to last longer then computers because there are no moving parts, no operating system, can't get a virus etc etc.

How do you solve "Buffer Full"
We have to turn the unit off and power it up again.

Tonia the buffer full message covers numerous items. Could be as simple as to many items registered in one transaction, could be an employee log in limit reached. Maybe an electronic journal (EJ) however I think the EJ error would have a different label.

You might try to Z out time keeping and EJ. Also more detail on when this happens and does power off and on seem to reset it?

Hi,

I have 2 sam 4s but with 2 diff version. Can I backup the new one and place it on the old one? Use of USb will not work, maybee I need a memory card?

Tommy some upgrades will not work on with USB. Small version changes will work no problem however numerous versions at once or large upgrades will not and you will have to use SD. The SD will work for all of them so best to proceed that way.

I really like my SAM4S SPS-2000. I really can not figure out how to run labor reports for pay periods. Can anyone help me, please?

Christopher there is a labor group report on the reports tab and there are also the time and attendance reports available. It is pretty simple, maybe you register need to be set up? we can walk you through all the steps via the phone for our regular hourly rate and you can call 1-800-863-2274 to set that up

I have a sam4s sps-2000 and after a blackout it doesn´t start, when i plug it in the red and the green lights blink for a while and than the green light stays on but the screen doesn´t go on. can tou help me?

I'm very sorry Akhim, this sounds like a catastrophic failure following a power surge. It is either the main board or possibly the screen. We can fix it but would need it in the office to do so. You should always have a good surge protector on these types of things. When the power fails and if you have time unplug them before the power is restored as often it will be a large surge! Again very sorry and wish I had better news for you. I do have used and new units available. I hope you backed up the program on a SD card. It sounds like you are trying to enter a function like reporting or programming with a clerk that does not have the rights to do that. This cash register does not have a key and everything is secured using authority levels.

Hi, I have an SPS2000, when I power it on I see the SAM4s logo and a blinking cursor, but that's it. I've looked online for software, but have had trouble finding it. Can you point me in the right direction? Thanks, Jay

Tony, there is no software so to speak. that machine is ROM based. The error you are having could be a couple things. When is the last time it worked? Anything happen in between? We have techs that can troubleshoot via phone with you at 1-800-863-2274 we do charge for our service however they may get it going or at least get you closer to an answer.

How can I adjust taxes? Since our menu items have changed our tax functions did not work properly. I know there is an option to divide taxes, so GST gets charged to food/non-alcoholic beverages and liquor, while liquor tax only applies for liquor items. I can't seem to find the option where I can change the taxes according to groups. Can you help me with this?

We have 2 x sps 200 machines and the screen on one changed layout and turned grey. I have uploaded the programming via an sd card from the other machine and it works fine apart from it is offline and will not link with the other machine now. Any help would be great!

You don't divide taxes, you program items to which of the four tax rates apply. One of the standard setting in PLU programming for support call 1-800-863-2274 standard rates apply, call for details. SAM4s SPS-2000 cash register support

Hello I have some problem
I've had my Sam4S SPS-2000 system for years with no problems. We, let me re-phrase, not this problem. The last 3 days, once a day in the evening after 8 or so hours of operation, the receipt printer starts printing gibberish until the tape runs out. I''ve tried resetting the system, clearing the caches and resetting the printer by plugging it in while holding down the feed button. Nothing has helped and it only does it once a day so far. When I unplug the printer (the only way to stop the printing) and let it set for about 5 minutes or so, it straightens out....till the next day. I do power the system off every night and back on in the morning. However, it usually does it when my business is very busy. Any help would be appreciated on my SPS-2000 system.

David, I would suspect a bad mother board. However, before jumping to that first I'd swap the printer out if you have a spare? Do you have more than one register and could rotate printers perhaps? If so does the problem stay with the printer or the register, that helps narrow it down of course. I might also check the voltage on the back up battery. I have seen the onboard battery get weak and cause very strange issues. Very easy to check if your willing to crack open the case and have a voltage meter. The battery list the voltage it should have so check it. That is a long shot of course. Of swap bales too if you do rotate printers, minimum inspect the cables.

If all that fails, main board should probably be replaced. How old are these registers. Good news is SAM4s has replaced the SPS-2000 with the SAP-6600 with SAM4pos and they are far superior. We can also port over portions of the programming. Hello!
What program can I use to read the .pgm file? I have had my SPS200 for years, but it is time for me to upgrade. I simply ran out of space for new items and I cannot delete old plus.
I backed up everything to a USB, and am trying to access the plus so I can transfer them to my new system, but I cannot even open the file because it is in .pgm. Thank you in advance for your help!

You would need either PC Poll or sam-2000. There is not a free Utility to do what you want to do. That is a service we can provide, you would need to send us that file and we can convert for you into something importable. Also if you were to buy your new system from us that would have been included of course at no additional fee. The file you have on the USB drive is simply a back up.
