SAM4s ER-290 cash registers are being phased out

The SAM4s ER-290 is a nice entry level cash register, however the factory is no longer going to produce them. SAM4s has several good models to replace the ER-290 including the following models

• SAM4s ER-265 (different keyboard then the 290)
• SAM4s ER-285M (also different keyboard then the 290)
• SAM4s ER-380 (very close to the ER-290 with same style keyboard)

And there are several others depending on budget and required features. Keep in mind the ER-290 was an entry level machines so it did lack features like credit card interface, PC interface and a few others.

SAM4s cash register keyboard templates

A great feature of flat keyboard restaurant style cash registers is your abilty to create new keyboards as well as update existing one. We simply use word templates and they allow you to change the color of each button, the text and a picture if you wanted. A good cash register company will provide you with the template so you can print your own on demand or make changes as needed.

Here are a few links to some pre-made keyboard templates and keep in mind many cash registers use the same template. Also little word of advice please print a blank, cut it to size and make sure it fits before you spend a few hours building a custom template only to have it not fit.

Again if your model number is close to any of those above download it, print it blank and try it. If it is close you can also adjust it in word. Some keyboard will print on 8.5 x 11 paper some will require leagal size so make sure you printer supports that. Also this are without warranty, use at your own risk. We make them available for free so please don't expect support for them as well but i can tell you we have created thousands of keyboards with these templates.

SAM4s Cash Register keyboard templates so you can create your own keyboards

If you have a template to make keyboards you have a great deal more flexibility to program and change your cash register when ever you would like. Most of the templates I have seen are just word documents and are very easy to use. Here are a few links to keyboard templates

• SAM4s ER-5200M keyboard template. The 5200M keyboard is a very common keyboard for many Samsung and SAM4s cashregisters. It is the same size keyboard as the SER-7000, ER-5100, ER-4900, ER-5200, SER-6500, SER-6500II and maybe a few more.

Always before you take the time to fill out a template print one out and cut to size and check it for fit on your cash register. You don't want to spend an hour on the template just to find it does not print the correct size!

Low-Cost, Entry-Level 7" Graphic Display Pole Display for SAM4s Cash Registers now available

Almost all of the SAM4s Cash Registers can interface to the new graphical display that allows you to advertise while displaying the customer their sale.  The display will rotate a series of end-user uploaded images on 2/3rd of the display while the remaining 1/3 is showing the sale. See the above example. This display connects to the cash register through serial port with the supplied cable. You will have to program the register to work with the display. This works with the following registers

SAM4s ER-285M and ER-265M Cash Registers with Free Software

So I heard some sites are charging customers for the software that comes FREE from the manufacture for the SAM4s ER-285M and the ER-265 Cash Registers.

The Cash Register Guys give you the software for free when you buy the register from them. You still have to buy the cable of make your own, but that is still a savings of $99.00 compared to some of the sites that are gouging customers for software that is really free, shame on them.

So to buy a SAM4s ER-285M or SAM4s ER-265 Cash Register check the Cash Register Guys, they treat you right.

SAM4s ER-265 Cash Register

So the SAM4s ER-265 is a great little cash register. Very low profile and small foot print. Not a real big keyboard, but not a big price for it either. Includes fast thermal printer and locking 5 bill 5 coin cash drawer. This machine is a good choice for fast food and bars that don't want to itemize evey drink or menu item. Pretty easy machine to program but not as easy as the SAM4s ER-650 is. Here is a link for the best price on the SAM4s ER-265 Cash Register

The ER-265 also has free software for the machine, you have to buy or make a cable to interface though.
