SAM4s Registers and POS interface with the BERG Liquor Control System

 

Yes, most SAM4s Cash Registers do Interface with the Berg

We have been helping people interface these two devices for many years. They go together very well just like peanut butter and jelly! If you are having a problem with a high pour cost it might be time for you to investigate a Berg Liquor control system. Our company does not sell Berg but we have many mutual customers. We have noticed that customers that use BERG seem to stay with them so there must be something to it.

Using a BERG combined with a SAM4s Cash Register gives you security

The way these two devices work together is pretty simple. When you pour a liquor with BERG it instantly sends a signal to the SAM4s register or POS system. That signal is simply the PLU number of that liquor in the register system. So, as soon as the bar tender pours that liquor it rings up that item in the register. If a liquor is poured than it is registered as a sale. That is very secure and ensures you are paid for what was poured. I'm certainly not an expert on all the functions of this liquor control system and all the ins and outs of it, however I know it works very well and is fast.

SAM4s 900 series cash registers

SAM4s last year released the highly anticipated ER-900 series of cash registers. There are four registers in this series. two are made for retail stores and two designed with food service in mind.

The SAM4s ER-925, ER-945 For Retail Merchants Applications like Retail, Gift Shops, convenience Stores, Beer/Wine/Liquor, Specialty Food, Produce, Meat, Main Street Merchants. The traditional raised-key keyboard provides 21 keyboard PLU keys and can be expanded by your SAM4s dealer to
63 PLU keys. Keyboard PLUs act like traditional departments for open-priced entries or can be set as preset price keys. Large key size ensures easy-to-read key labels. Merchants who wish to scan can build their PLU file on the fly using the not-found PLU registration feature.

The SAM4s ER-920, ER-940 For Food Service Applications Cafeterias, Quick Service, Concessions, Ice Cream /Frozen Yogurt Stands, Hamburger Sandwich, Pizza, Coffee, Bakery, Deli’s, Bars Preset PLUs facilitate fast and accurate registrations. With 150 key locations, the flat, spill-resistant keyboard can easily accommodate large menus with preset keys for each item. Where menus change daily with breakfast, lunch or dinner times the paper key-sheet under the overlay is easily exchanged. A simplified check tracking feature is available for bars and cafes

Thermal Printer choices include a single printer or traditional receipt and journal model. Both versions provide fast, quiet thermal printing. Drop-in loading simplifies paper changing and
virtually eliminates paper jamming. Receipt & Journal Printer Models; ER-940, ER-945. Use a two-printer model when a  customer receipt and a traditional real-time printed journal is needed for sales archival. Single Printer Models; ER-920, ER-925 Single printer models are best for receipt-only or

What will 2013 bring in the world of cash registers?

In 2013 I don't see much of a change from the state of things today in the cash register business. I project SAM4s will still be the best selling commercial cash register on the market beating out Sharp cash registers.

Both make great commercial grade cash registers but it seem clear that SAM4s is leading the way in the industry today as they have for the last few years. SAM4s has come out with a slew of new machines with features that really are game changers. For example SAM4s makes several entry level cash registers with SD card ports and make the same models with one printer and two so you can make the best choice for your needs. The newer models that include some of these great features are:

So let's not forget about Sharp completely as I'm not writing them off. They have made some great moves this year too. They came out with two new models that are great machines with some leading edge features. The machines are:

Both of these machines have features that SAM4s cash registers do not have. First both of these machine interface to a standard credit card terminal from Hypercom which is very unique (not as complete a system as the Datacap Interface). They both also have a programming Software that interfaces to the cash register with an SD card instead of a direct connection to the PC, however the big feature that has to long in coming for any register company is that these two machines have a Quick Books Transfer tool that allows you to take the sales from the register and import into your Quick Books accounting software.

New Features in SAM4s Cash Registers

In 2011 we saw several cash registers come onto the market and in 2012 we should see a few more. We are very happy to see a few developments with the new releases from SAM4s. First and foremost every new product they released is now coming with an SD card port for backing up programs, upgrading ROM, and taking reports. Do not forget to invest a couple bucks and buy yourself an SD card to back up your register program! Second thing we like is that SAM4s came out with two of each model, one with a receipt only and a second one with a receipt and journal! Several of their older models had only a receipt which is fine for most operators however it did force a few people to buy more register than needed to get that receipt. You will see the 900 series was release with both choices of a receipt or receipt and journal. Lastly almost every SAM4s now comes with Free Utility Software that allows you to program the register from a PC if you want to. Check out the new 900 series already released and the soon to be release SAM4s 300 series.
